Our Advisory Group member, Professor Dominique Marshall, has recently notified us that with the assistance of Dr Sarah Glassford, historian of the Canadian Red Cross, selected materials from the Canadian Red Cross archives have now been deposited in the Archives and Special Collections of Carleton University’s MacOdrum Library (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada).

On Friday, April 28, 2017, the Canadian Network on Humanitarian History (CNHH) hosted a book launch for Mobilizing Mercy: A History of the Canadian Red Cross, by social historian -and a founder of the CNHH- Sarah Glassford. Members of the Red Cross were in attendance, including CEO of the Canadian Red Cross, Conrad Sauvé, who opened the evening with a few words of introduction.

The Canadian Network on Humanitarian History is pleased to announce the publication of Sarah Glassford‘s first monograph, Mobilizing Mercy: a History of the Canadian Red Cross, from McGill-Queen’s University Press. Dr. Glassford is a social historian of Canada, having received her PhD from York University in Toronto. She is also a founding member of our Network and has previously blogged on Humanitarianism in the classroom.
