Fellow in Residence

About the Position:
The Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) program at Carleton University invites applications for a Fellow in Residence position. The program is interested in candidates working on projects of global and international significance. The successful candidate is expected to be in residence in Ottawa, Canada and take the award during Carleton’s 2018/19 academic year. The appointment will involve delivering one public lecture, teaching one course per semester, and engaging with BGInS students, including during weekly office hours. In the Fall 2018 semester, the Fellow is expected to teach an introductory lecture course, either International Law and Politics (GINS 1010) or Globalization and International Economic Issues (GINS 2010). In the Winter 2019 semester, the Fellow is expected to teach a fourth year honours seminar in the area of their expertise. The Fellow in Residence award is CAN $20,000. During the term of the award, the Fellow will be appointed as a Visiting Scholar under Carleton’s policy on visiting appointments.
Qualifications:
The applicant should have an impressive record of public policy engagement in the broad field of global and international studies, ranging from work in the public service, diplomacy, policy research arena, civil society advocacy, development, international litigation, or security services.

About the Position:
The Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) program at Carleton University invites applications for a Visiting Professor position for a semester-length appointment to be taken during the 2018-19 academic year, either in the Fall (September to December 2018) or Winter (January to April 2019) semester. The program is interested in a candidate who is working on a project of global and international significance that is linked to at least one of its seventeen specializations. Regional expertise is open; however, we are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate expertise in the Middle East or East Asia. The successful candidate is expected to be in residence in Ottawa, Canada during the semester of the appointment. The appointment will involve delivering one public lecture, teaching one fourth-year honours seminar in an area of global concern, and general participation in the BGInS intellectual community. The award is for $30,000 CAN.
Qualifications:
The position is an Open-rank position. Applicants should demonstrate a strong teaching and research record and have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of application.

Launched in 2015, the BGInS program is an interdisciplinary program jointly sponsored by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Public Affairs. It is housed administratively in the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs. Over 120 Carleton faculty members, from 19 different academic units, are affiliated with the program. The BGInS program is unique in Canada in that it offers students and faculty a comprehensive multi- and inter-disciplinary space for teaching, learning, research and policy engagement on issues related to globalization in our contemporary period.
